A high percentage of the people who experience whiplash develop chronic headaches, also known as cervicogenic headache or neck-related headache.

The sudden and extreme back and forth motion of whiplash can injure the cervical facet joints, causing inflammation and irritation of the nerves in the brainstem and spinal cord. This is very serious and needs to be addressed as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of chronic pain syndrome.
The most common cause of whiplash is from car accidents and sports injuries.
